Welcome to the Sisters in the Brotherhood FAQ established to provide answers to questions regarding the upcoming conference scheduled for Thursday, June 17 through Sunday, June 20, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada! Many of you can’t call to ask questions during normal business hours and this site is accessible 24/7 to provide information to assist you in planning to attend the Women’s Conference. 1. When does the Conference start?
The conference begins on Thursday, June 17 with registration that afternoon through the evening hours. Registration packets with workshop schedules, agendas, etc, will be distributed at this time. A welcome reception will be held that evening. Workshops are scheduled to begin the following morning. Late registration will be for approximately 1 hour the following morning. The conference ends with a closing banquet the evening of Saturday, June 19. Sunday, June 20 is a travel day.
2. Who can attend?
Any current member of the UBC is welcome to attend. While there have been inquiries from past members or office personnel, attendance has been restricted to current UBC members.
3. Where is the Conference being held?
The conference is being held at the UBC International Training Center, 6801 Placid St, Las Vegas, Nevada 89119.
4. Who can stay at the International Training Center?
Anyone eligible to attend can stay at the ITC. The Training Center can hold roughly 270. Please be advised, occupancy is restricted to single occupancy only. Smoking is permitted in designated areas only.
5. What other room accommodations are available?
To be announced. Please check back; the information will be updated as soon as possible. We are making arrangements with a hotel within walking distance from the ITC.
6. Can a friend/spouse/sibling/etc attend the conference with me as a guest?
Space for the conference is limited. As a result, guests of conference attendees can not be accommodated.
7. What does the registration fee cover?
The registration fee will cover all meals, and the conference package which includes workshop materials, a t-shirt, the cost of the banquet, etc.
8. Will meals be provided to those not staying at the ITC?
All meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are covered in the registration fee for ALL ATTENDEES! This includes the welcome reception and the closing banquet.
9. Who will be the guest speakers?
We are still working to schedule speakers for the conference and will post that information as soon as it is available. Speakers for previous conferences include General President Doug McCarron, First Lady Hillary Clinton, Secretary of Labor Elaine Chow, and Presidential Campaign Manager Donna Brazile. We are working on bringing a similar caliber of speakers to this year’s conference.
10. What is the dress for the conference?
The dress code is casual, yet neat. Clothing should not be torn and should not have objectionable sayings or pictures on it. Many Sisters wear their local or council shirts. The last evening of the conference is a banquet – plan on wearing more formal attire.
